Ric Geiman has been climbing in the Garden of the Gods since he moved to Colorado Springs in 1981. His climbing career began in the 70's when he was a student at the University of Idiana; a harrowing accent of
Devil's Tower with his life long friend Dan Heidenreich and his older brother Tom confirmed his passion for climbing. "Our ascent of Durrance Crack was an epic struggle,'' says Geiman, "but the whole experience created a powerful bond between us and the sport that made the experience possible." Subsequent trips to the Gunks, Seneca
Rocks, the Needles, Canyonlands, Yosemite, and eventually the Garden of the Gods, sustained his love for climbing.
Today, Geiman is a contract coordinator for the Colorado Springs Park and Recreation Department and co-owner of the Sport Climbing Center which he opened in 1992 with his two friends Erick Christianson and Mark Van Horn.
Geiman has climbed competitively since 1989 and at one time was ranked 10th by the ASCF.
He lives in Colorado Springs with his wife Cindy and their two children, Ashley and Austin.
